Working for the Generations Ahead

Occasionally in life we run across someone who is so unique that they leave an impression on us forever. Such was the case for Bonnie and I when we met Doc Cudd. In this picture Doc is Smithing an iron leaf key chain for us at the Biltmore Farm house. This is a picture of the key chain he made for us:

It only took him about 15 minutes to make but we got to watch a true artist at work. Doc apprenticed under his great uncle for 25 years before he was able to go out off on his own. He told us that it took 10 years just to learn how to control the fire. He told us that it took five years learning how to control the fire before his great uncle would even begin to show him how to smith something. Doc is now the only true blacksmith left in North Carolina. He says that blacksmiths are a dying breed because no one wants to take the time to learn how to do it. He is the Biltmore houses own blacksmith and does all the iron work and iron repair on the grounds. He owns his own company so if you ever want some iron work done I'll send you his business card. I will always hang on to that keys chain to remember what it means to think generationally and to learn with patients and diligence. Could you imagine how wonderful this world would be if Christians took the time and diligence in laboring for the kingdom that Doc took in learning how to be a blacksmith. It took him over 30 years to get where he is but now his labor has paid off and his role is impairitive in maintaining the biltmore estates iron work. I encourage ya'll to go to the farm house next time you go to the biltmore and go watch him. He isn't always there because he owns his own iron working business, but if providence is good to you then maybe you will be so honored to meet such a man as this.

Continue in laboring hard for the kingdom and be diligent, patient, and disciplined in it, that we might be the men who change the world for God glory!

I thought ya'll might get a kick out of this.
Bonnie and I passed by this sign on the way to Charlotte from Ashville on Friday.

Did anyone else notice that there are 2 children under the age of 5 in the background of the "spank me" shot?

...and Mark, it takes a pretty confident man to let his wife size-up his manhood with a Grecco-Roman's.

did you tell the blacksmith what you had just finished doing to the statues?

Good question Bob -- apparently the blacksmith needs to get working on the chasity belts for the statues.

It helps keep them pure from people like mark.

No that's just the wonderful feeling of relief. We have that effect on people. They're like, "ahh, It's so nice to think about Bonnie and Mark. What a relief. It's almost like taking a dump."
