it's 1984, the end of the cold war, and the american company apple is championing individualism (via the mass consumption of their new computer, conveniently) against the mindless communists of the soviet Union
now fast forward to 2008 and change the characters, Obama=US, and Hillary=USSR according to whoever made the commercial.
