Where have we all gone?

This is a call to all of my brethren to make an effort to continue this blog for the (true) reason it was begun: to keep in "contact" with each other though we are separated by vast distances. I would desire to meet with each of you personally, but it is impossible at this stage in life. I implore you to seek the encouragement of all of us by keeping us informed of the current events in your life.

Enough with the fancy talk. I feel obligated to speak like that so that Bob can understand and feel like he is a part of this blog. Anyway, so many of you received an email from me stating the birth of my first son, Joel, on 10/01/07. He was 8lbs 11oz and 21 in long. He is now ~18lbs and 26+ in. For those who don't keep track of the infant growth charts that's over 95th percentile in both. That means he's fat and tall. I boast that most children can only grow one chin. However, my son can grow two, and both really well.

On a lighter note, I've had to withdrawal myself from the Match (the process by which you gain a spot in a residency... And get a pay check) this year and postpone graduation a year. The reasons behind this are complex, but the most important was that prior to Joel's arrival Loren was on bed rest. I was stretched too thin by working on applications, studying for Step 2 of my boards, researching programs, working from 5am to 6pm every day, and wanting desperately to be at home with Loren. So as a result, I took a ~3 month break from rotations and pushed everything back a year. This has been, bar none, the best time in my life. I have had time to spend with Loren like I've never had before. I have been able to watch my son grow without the pressures of medical education lingering in my mind. God has been so very gracious to me to reaffirm what is most important in this life. 1st, my relationship with Him. 2nd, my relationship with Loren. 3rd, my responsibilities as a father. 4th, my calling to a profession.

Well, I hope all is well with you punks. If any of you (excluding David Barron because I hate that guy!) would like to visit Charleston you have free room and board at the Germeroth Inn. Give my regards to your wives for me and Loren. God bless!

John

you look like you are about to fall over backwards in that rocking chair. Glad to see that not so little Joel is doing well.

So, John... It appears that you and I have complete control over this blog now. Whatever shall we do?
